ABOUT

Stay at OceanBlue

and be inspired by our bracing coral coastline

Our Story...

Nestled away on the picturesque southern tip of Barbados, OceanBlue is one of the most beautiful, peaceful and hospitable destinations. Our 23-room property offers the intimacy and privacy of a small boutique hotel with the spaciousness of a resort. Relax around the swimming pool or in our oceanfront Seabreeze Lounge and enjoy the stunning views of the Atlantic as it meets our untamed coastline. Visit our Art Gallery and be inspired by the work of Barbados’ most respected artists. This diverse private collection promotes our cultural heritage.

Our art collection began many years ago in the heady days of a burgeoning tourist industry when, in 1981 along with our partners, we built and co-owned the hugely successful, environmental and multi award winning 168 room hotel, Casuarina Beach Club (now Sandals Barbados). For 19 years Casuarina was managed by our mother Sonia “Bonnie” Cole-Wilson until it was sold in 2005. It was during this period that Bonnie began her private art collection. Her vision was to support, promote and through the hotel, give exposure to established and emerging Barbadian artists working in diverse art styles and materials. Bonnie’s support was impactful and appreciated by artists and aesthetes alike.

In addition to Bonnie’s role as Managing Director, many of us in the family worked at Casuarina in the capacities of Member of the Board of Directors, Night Manager, Reservations, Activities, Bar and Restaurant, Web Development and Promotions. We worked together to sustain Casuarina’s staggering 90-95% year-round occupancy and healthy 65% average repeat clientele.

While staying at Casuarina Beach Club in 1988, Margaret and Adrian Loveridge first discovered The Arawak Inn (now OceanBlue). They were immediately taken by this unique hotel and embarked on purchasing, renovating and rebranding it Peach & Quiet. Margaret and Adrian made Peach & Quiet one of the most successful, intimate and hospitable hotels in Barbados, with a high repeat clientele. Their personal touch and genuine interest in their guests ensured a lasting loyalty.

In coming full circle, our family discovered Peach & Quiet, and were witness to Margaret and Adrian’s passion for this property and in 2019 embarked on purchasing, renovating and rebranding it OceanBlue Resort. To add to the string of coincidences, prior to us purchasing Peach & Quiet, Marc and Sally Egan of the award-winning Marco Polo Bar & Grill toured the hotel with Margaret and Adrian but decided not to purchase as they primarily saw themselves as restauranteurs. Our family had the good fortune to meet Marc and Sally and bring them full circle back to operate the bars and restaurant at OceanBlue.

Our family have been smitten by the beauty of this unspoiled bit of Barbados, with its unchanging coral coastline. We are privileged to become a part of this property’s history and through OceanBlue, once again contribute to Barbados’ Tourism Industry.
